VOLTA BLOG I 5 extraordinary aspects of Volta Residences you did not know about

Winter brings exciting times to Volta quarter: Volta Residences – the very first new buildings of the quarter – are to be completed in the beginning of 2023.

The new buildings, designed by KOKO architects, unite over a century’s worth of history and the style and elements characteristic to new buildings and industrial architecture, resulting in some of the most unique buildings in North Tallinn.

High ceilings and intriguing planning

The common characteristic of every living space in Volta quarter is vast space, enchantingly high ceilings and intriguing planning. The ceilings of the apartments in Volta Residences measure three meters, the ceilings in the multi-level lofts reach 5,4 meters.

Volta Residences feature a selection of bright 1-4-room homes, multi-level lofts and luxurious penthouse apartments.

Giant industrial windows

The vast space and light in Volta Residences are accentuated by the industrial floor-to-ceiling squared windows with beautiful views of the city and the new park to be designed in the very heart of the quarter.

Most of the living spaces include a large balcony or a rooftop terrace on which to relax and enjoy the stunning view.

Penthouses and lofts

Four of the six buildings of Volta Residences are comprised of apartments but the two slightly taller buildings feature luxurious lofts with multi-level planning. These buildings are distinct among the rest with their unique architectural design and image.

The last floors of the Volta Residences feature extravagant penthouses with stunning views of the sea and the Old Town. Penthouse apartments include spacious rooftop terraces for sunbathing, exercising, parties and spending quality time with friends and family.

Reasonable homes of the future

Volta Residences are designed to keep up with the future: all buildings are built with class A energy efficiency and are partially powered by green energy. Solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of the buildings and several innovative solutions enhance the energy efficiency of the homes.

The windows of Volta Residences have a higher U-factor and the lofts have an integrated cooling system.

The buildings of Volta Residences include a bike room and a charging station for electric vehicles. Parking will be entirely underground and the quiet and peaceful streets of the quarter are meant for pedestrians and cyclists alone.

Does this look familiar?

The buildings of Volta Residences may be entirely new but their design was inspired by over 120 years of history. Volta quarter used to be the major manufacturing complex of the district and in addition to the 10 million electric motors produced over the many years, waffle irons became to be known as one of the most popular and well-known products associated with the quarter to this day.

In acknowledgement of the history of the quarter, the rational shape and form of the waffle iron is evident in the architectural design of the Volta Residences. The rounded corners, large squared windows and decorative balcony railings are what really give the buildings their unique character and image.

Volta Residences will be completed in the first half of 2023. The first apartments in Volta Residences will be completed by the end of the year.
