Situated right outside Tallinn, Viimsi happens to be one of the rarest places where city and nature become one: the city center is just 15-20 minutes away while more than half of the parish is made up of beautiful nature reserves.
The area is facing significant change in the near future – several projects inspired by the desire to offer its inhabitants a wholesome and valuable environment while taking care of the area’s greatest treasure – nature.
Let’s take a look at some of the plans and visions in store for a parish running alongside one of the most pristine beaches in all Estonia.
An oasis on the outskirts of Tallinn
Viimsi is best characterized by its ample greenery, calm and quiet residential areas and inhabitants who acknowledge that life moves at its own pace, guided by core values such as silence, cleanliness and enjoyment. This way of life is made possible by the very nature the parish seeks to preserve.
Viimsi is home to five vast and unique nature conservation areas: Viimsi manor park, Haabneeme alder grove, Prangli reserve, Prangli landscape conservation area and Naissaare nature park. In addition to these, six other landscape conservation areas exist, protected by the parish itself, in order to demonstrate the immense respect and care the parish has for its natural surroundings.
The inhabitants of Viimsi are united by a common understanding and wish to preserve biodiversity, maintain ecosystems and ensure a clean and healthy environment for both man and nature. More than half of the parish territories are designated conservation areas. Naturally, this means preserving nature will be made a priority in each and every major project and development in the future.
