The largest sports club in Põhja-Tallinn – MyFitness Volta – has opened

At the end of the year, when many are only beginning to think about their New Year’s resolutions, the Volta quarter saw the opening of Põhja-Tallinn’s largest and most modern sports club – MyFitness Volta – ensuring that no given resolution is left unfulfilled. The club opened with a festive joint workout attended by beloved singers, actors and influencers. The event was hosted by Franz Malmsten.

Located in a more than 125-year-old historic industrial building, the nearly 2,000-square-metre sports club offers everything a modern visitor might need – from a gym and Pilates to recovery therapy. Several well-known influencers and celebrities took part in the joint workout at the opening event, becoming the first to test the new club’s possibilities.

MyFitness CEO and Management Board member Tiina Matikainen noted that Põhja-Tallinn is a rapidly developing urban space with a steadily growing population. This, in turn, creates expectations and a need for a modern sports club within the community. “Residents of Põhja-Tallinn have been waiting for us here for a long time, and we’ve been considering expansion for a while. Now this promise has been fulfilled, and the new year can begin without excuses like ‘the gym is too far from home’ or anything of the sort,” Matikainen said.

MyFitness Volta opening event was hosted by Franz Malmsten.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was performed by MyFitness Grupp CEO Erkki Torn, Endover CEO Roul Tutt, MyFitness Eesti CEO Tiina Matikainen, and Endover Sales Director Annika Saar and MyFitness Volta club manager Triinu-Liis Mätlik.

Pilates, a gym and red-light therapy

MyFitness Volta brings a wide range of new and in-demand options to the district. The club features a dedicated Fusion Pilates studio for effective Reformer training, as well as a spacious group-training hall. The gym is equipped with the latest Technogym machines, free weights and specialised training zones, including the increasingly popular Booty Zone for lower-body workouts.

During the opening workout led by trainers Eva Ottas and Katrena Tenno, with the participation of Franz Malmsten, well-known guests were able to join the popular and globally rising FUSION x HIIT Surprise session. Among the participants were Juss Haasma, Märten Metsaviir, as well as brothers Raul and Romet Esko.

After the workout, everyone enjoyed the Recovery Zone – a recovery area with massage devices and compression boots. A unique addition for Estonia at MyFitness Volta is the Red Light Therapy cabin – red-light therapy supporting recovery, collagen production, improved blood circulation and injury healing.

The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was performed by MyFitness Grupp CEO Erkki Torn, Endover CEO Roul Tutt, MyFitness Eesti CEO Tiina Matikainen, and Endover Sales Director Annika Saar and MyFitness Volta club manager Triinu-Liis Mätlik. After the official part, the celebration continued in Volta HUB with an atmospheric After Chill, where DJ Rain Tolk played records, guests were served dishes created by Maria Ader, and drinks were presented by Laur Ihermann – the master behind some of the world’s finest non-alcoholic cocktails. DJ Kitty Florentine brought a musical atmosphere to the first visitors in the gym.

One of the first visitors to MyFitness Volta was influencer looraxo – Laura Liisa Leosk, who had been eagerly awaiting the club’s opening. “It’s such a pleasure – the entire training experience has been made so modern: from the locker rooms to the equipment in the gym,” she explained.

A historic building, a new living environment

MyFitness Volta is located in a recently reconstructed historic industrial building that forms part of the larger Volta HUB centre, developed by Endover. Dating back to 1899, the building has preserved the high ceilings and limestone façade characteristic of its industrial past.

“A cohesive and modern living environment is taking shape in the Volta quarter, where homes with industrial architecture – high ceilings and large windows – stand within walking distance of everything you need. This is the principle of the 15-minute city,” explained Endover CEO Roul Tutt. “In the near future, a grocery store, restaurants and various services will appear next to the sports club. The quarter already features the Volta Padel center, cozy cafés and designer shops. The goal is for people not to need a car for their daily errands.”

Põhja-Tallinn has become the fastest-growing district of the capital. According to Citify, the Volta quarter has been the most sought-after new residential project in Tallinn over the past two years – more new apartments were purchased here than anywhere else. The company Wise has also relocated several thousand of its employees to Põhja-Tallinn, and according to various forecasts, the area is expected to gain around 40,000 new residents and workers within the next 5–10 years.

The appeal of Volta is further demonstrated by the start of construction of the Volta SKAI high-rise, which will become MyFitness Volta’s neighbour: in the first two months, the value of apartments sold reached 7.5 million euros, with an average price of 9,700 euros per square metre, and the most expensive sale nearly 13,000 euros per square metre. One of the largest deals of the year – around 2.5 million euros – was for the purchase of the two-storey penthouse SKAI Villa with views of the sea and the Old Town.
