The Volta lofts snuggle between the sea and the Old Town in the suburb of Kalamaja, where culture and development know no boundaries. Right on your doorstep you’ll find the recently opened Arsenal shopping centre, which is home to the Selver supermarket as well as cafés and boutiques. Across the room a marina is taking shape from which a seaside promenade runs all the way to the city centre.
And just a few steps away you’ll find Kalamaja’s most beautiful park, the sea, the Noblessner marina and the Old Town, not to mention some of the city’s most famous eateries. If there’s nothing going on at the Cultural Hub and you’ve been to the latest exhibition at the Seaplane Harbour, perhaps there’ll be something worth seeing at the Vaba Lava Theatre? One thing’s for sure: you’ll never be bored.
If the weather’s not the best for hopping on your bike, why not take one of the buses from Tööstuse Street or one of the trams from Kopli Street to head into town or explore other parts of the city? And if you’ve set your sights on a destination a little further afield, you’ll find the Balti jaam railway station and the passenger terminals at the Port of Tallinn close at hand. The new Kalaranna Street has just been completed, linking North Tallinn with the city centre and redirecting traffic away from Tööstuse Street.
The heart of the Volta quarter will get a new lease on life in the form of a thoughtfully designed park dotted with tall trees: the perfect place to take a stroll, gather your thoughts, chat to your neighbours or watch over your kids as they have fun in the private playground.
